Realise Your Potential at the BBA
The British Board of Agrément is the leading UK body to offer product certification, product approval, management system registration and UKAS-accredited testing. Our role is to encourage innovation and provide reassurance in the construction industry, primarily by assessing the fitness for purpose of a wide range of construction products.
We have been at the forefront of technological change in construction for almost half a century. We invest heavily in staffing and staff training to maintain and develop both our reputation and our service delivery to clients.
Maintaining our reputation begins with the quality and passion of the people who work for us. Our core values are Courage, Integrity, Loyalty, Collaboration, Passion and Accountability.
We are continually looking to add to our team and would like to hear from talented individuals keen to join us.
For the right people, a career at the BBA guarantees a challenging and rewarding working life with a structured programme of continuous training.
Why join the BBA?
Because it is a good place to work. These are just some of the comments made by staff from our recent employee survey:
“The BBA is a great company, with huge potential. I love my job”
“It has always been a friendly place to work”
“The work is varied and interesting, my colleagues within my department are a joy to work with”
“I enjoy working with many of the talented people who work hard and always surprise me with their ideas and ability to adapt.”
If you identify with what we say below, then a career at the BBA could well be for you.
Working to realise your potential
Our corporate strapline is ‘Realising your Potential’ and this applies to our clients, stakeholders and staff. We want to give everyone who works with us the chance to learn, develop, progress and fulfil their potential and aspirations.
We have a range of jobs and opportunities, including technical, commercial, managerial, administrative and support roles such as IT and finance.
Some of these jobs are office based, and some involve daily travel to construction sites, manufacturers and/or properties into which BBA-approved products have been installed.
An important part of our role is to facilitate innovation, which means that there are many opportunities to be involved with cutting-edge product developments in the construction industry.
By joining the BBA you will be working with colleagues who share your commitment to learn, develop and progress. Teamwork is important in much of what we do because we draw on everyone’s knowledge, skills and experience to deliver high-quality services on budget and on time.
You will work with some inspirational people and will learn from them whilst sharing your own insights and experiences, all of which contribute to excellent client service and the success of your career.
The BBA and its people are ambitious and put in the effort to succeed. We are always looking for new opportunities that will benefit our clients, our business and our people, individually and collectively.
We are a client-driven company and that requires flexibility from our staff. This brings challenges and opportunities and we do recognise that a proportionate work/life balance is important for individuals and the BBA.
Working to value and invest in our people
One of our core values is respecting and recognising our staff, which means offering a safe, respectful working environment, stimulating work, continuous professional development, ongoing learning and coaching and fair reward, and seeking to promote internally.
As part of this we actively encourage staff to train and study to add to their skills set and obtain qualifications and membership of professional bodies.
Working to reward
In addition to competitive salaries, we offer a range of employee benefits including a good pension plan, life assurance, generous holidays, company sick pay, flexible working, a very pleasant business park environment with access for sports facilities, free car parking, home working (where appropriate), employee assistance programme and investment in your career.
The BBA does not have share-holder dividends to pay, which means that staff are rewarded for success through a profit-share scheme.
