The BBA is delighted to announce the introduction of QR codes for Agrément and HAPAS Certificates, making access to Certificate details for clients and their customers alike, easier than ever!
Over the coming months the BBA branded QR codes will start to appear on certificate holders advertising material and products. Clients signing up to new contracts for Agrément and HAPAS Certificates will also notice information on the BBA QR code in the Terms and Conditions.
If you do not know what a QR code is, they are a 2D image that contain data, similar to a barcode.
QR stands for Quick Response and the codes provide an instant way for people to find out more information on a mobile phone or tablet.
How do QR Codes work?
They are a connector between the physical world and the web. People see the code, scan it, and they are immediately engaged with the online resource or message.
QR codes are ideal for linking people to websites but they can also be used to:
a) download business card information into the scanning devices contacts
b) store a date in the scanning devices calendar
c) launch a prepopulated e-mail
d) deliver a text message (i.e. a voucher code)
The QR codes themselves are not dynamic. The dynamics come on the front or back end of the process. On the front end, this refers to software that generates personalised QR codes. On the back end, it refers to processes that – once the user hits the landing page – generate different content based on data gathered from the user’s mobile or tablet, such as geography, time zone, details on the make and model of the phone or the browser it is using. Coding can even trigger the appropriate language or dialect.
When a QR code is scanned the information remains in the device until the user clears the QR readers history.
BBA QR codes will link people to a webpage with details of the associated Certificate, manufacturers installation guidance (where available) and contact details for product support. Take a look at the landing page we created for Sikalastic!
Why use QR Codes?
Most people carry a mobile phone or tablet on them making it possible to scan a QR code with ease. The online content of the QR code can be updated without a need to change the actual code itself (no need to reprint) and QR codes are trackable, so reports may be provided on QR code usage. Most important of all is that QR codes enhance customer service, providing valuable information in a few clicks.

Who needs to do what?
If you are an Agrément or HAPAS Certificate holder, prior to a new Certificate being issued or a current Certificate re-issued, you will be sent a “QR Code Client Information Request Form” which asks that you provide a URL to the product installation instructions, the appropriate contact details for product enquiries and a corporate logo.
The BBA will generate the QR Code, build and publish the landing page and provide you with a digital QR Code for printing.
QR codes are an ideal medium for the construction industry, and perfect for printed material such as advertisements, packaging and delivery notes. QR codes may even be printed onto the actual product.
