Cavity Wall Insulation Assessors Scheme
The BBA Scheme for Assessors will help
underpin the competence of the assessors who survey buildings prior
to installation.
The Assessor must consider many factors and
have sufficient knowledge to come to a sound decision, both on
behalf of the installing company and the customer.
As with all cavity wall insulation, the
construction and detailing should comply with the BBA publication
Cavity Insulation of Masonry Walls - Dampness Risks and How to
Minimise Them.
The purpose of the assessment is to determine
if a property is suitable for cavity wall insulation.
When assessing whether any building can be
insulated whether it be houses, bungalows, flats, offices or
schools, the golden rules are:
-
Assess critically
-
Be expert - know building practice (BS 5628 : part 3 :
2005)
-
Accept only properties that are suitable
-
Documents all facts and if in doubt, seek advice.
