BBA HAPAS Thin Surfacing and Highways Agency IAN 154/12
To ensure existing and new Thin Surfacing Certificates can be cross referenced with the Highways Agency IAN 154/12 interim requirements the BBA have updated the Guideline.
This amended Interim Guideline will remain on our website until the Highways Agency Clause 942 has been updated.
The Interim Guideline will ensure: 1. IAN 154/12 requirements are reflected in any Certificates published after 1 July 2013.
The key interim differences are: a. Wheel track is replaced with the test method in BS EN 13108 series (where applicable), and the Highways Agency interim performance requirements for resistance to permanent deformation applied. b. Sensitivity to water is replaced with the revised test method in BS EN 13108 series (where applicable).
This is likely to be a no performance declaration in the UK. c. Texture depth requirements will reflect those detailed in IAN 154/12, Table 9/3SR http://www.dft.gov.uk/ha/standards/ians/pdfs/ian154.pdf 2. Existing Certificates (in the old format) can be reviewed against the current Highways Agency interim requirements.
