Inspections

The BBA are UKAS ISO: 17020 accredited to provide inspection
services to the construction industry. BBA’s accreditation scope
includes the installation of Cavity wall and Loft insulation,
Windows, Doors, Conservatories, High Friction surfacing for roads
and General Building works.
The BBA has over 40 years experience in providing independent
and unbiased information on products and their installation. Our
inspection teams cover various inspection activities including
inspections of BBA Approved Installers and installers operating
under client managed schemes to surveillance visits carried out on
behalf of the Government endorsed Competent Person and TrustMark
schemes. Our inspection teams cover the whole of the UK
including the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland
as well as Eire.
Schemes we provide inspection services for include;
The BBA Approved Cavity Wall Installer Scheme, it has been
running since 1975 to ensure that BBA Approved Products are
installed to the specification of Agrément Certification. To
support this scheme, the newly introduced BBA Scheme for
Assessors will help underpin the competence of Assessors who
survey buildings prior to the installation of cavity wall
installation.
The BBA Approved Scheme for installers of Loft Insulation has
been developed with input from energy industry stakeholders
to help ensure that loft insulation is installed
professionally to meet required standards and deliver the
anticipated energy and CO2 savings to
householders.
The BBA are an approved Scheme Operator for the Government
backed TrustMark Scheme and provide inspection services to other
TrustMark Scheme Operators.
The ‘BBA inspected’ client managed schemes are an excellent way
for organizations to oversee the quality of the installation of
their products and demonstrate they meet the regulatory
requirements.
The BBA also conduct in excess of 16,000 inspections annually
for the Government-authorised Fenestration Self Assessment Scheme –
FENSA, the ‘Competent Persons Scheme’ for the installation of
replacement windows and doors in domestic dwellings covering
England and Wales.
