New Year Message from Claire Curtis-Thomas

New Year Message from Claire Curtis-Thomas

In our 50th year, the BBA is still privileged to support the work of world class product producing companies operating within the construction sector.  The number of BBA Certificates available in the market is steadily growing, despite a fluctuating global economy – the business currently covers over 300 different product types and we continue to assess new and innovative products on a weekly basis. The level of creativity within the construction sector continues unabated as British-based companies strive to produce goods which will appeal not only to specifiers within the UK but also to those from continental Europe and further afield. Enquiries from the Middle and Far East continue to rise, as significant economies look for outstanding marks of quality when purchasing products.  We have expanded our Sales team to respond to these enquiries, and we have launched an extensive engagement programme to reaffirm the value of BBA products and services to both specifiers and our clients.

2015 was another year of significant change for the BBA, as we sought to develop a programme of activities which resonated with the aspirations of our clients. The business continues to invest heavily in the development of new staff, systems and procedures to improve service delivery, but there is still some way to go to match expectations: the Board of Directors and the Management Team remain totally committed to doing everything they can to deliver, on a consistent basis, the services that add substantial value to our clients’ activities and products.

In 2016, we will launch our new BIM service, in addition to improving the usability of information related to our Certificates via QR codes.  We are in the process of developing product-specific web sites and these will come on-line on a rolling basis from April 2016.

The BBA has been invited to lead the Compliance and Enforcement element of the Bonfield Review and we are hopeful that this activity will improve public confidence in the retrofit industry.

The BBA was founded in 1966 (what a great year to launch a business) to support the introduction of innovative products into the market place; we continue to carry out this activity and we hope to do so with the support of our much-valued clients for the next 50 years and beyond.

Finally I’d like to wish all of our clients, Partners, staff and supporters a very happy and prosperous new year.
