Construction Information Service (CIS) is a subscription-based, aggregated and actively managed library of current content for construction industry professionals.

What does it do?

Devised by IHS Markit in conjunction with National Building Specification (NBS), the CIS holds over 29,000 full text PDF documents from around 450 publishers that helps you to quickly find key information such as regulations and standards, with the ability to collaborate and share with others.

Why was it needed?

Recently, Government and Industry bodies have called for better access to Construction knowledge. And the move towards a ‘golden thread’ of information for the lifecycle of projects and buildings means it’s more important than ever to not only have the latest version of information but also a place to store it all which can be easily traced

How can it help me?

If you’ve ever asked yourself:

  • Can I trust I’m using a valid document?
  • Do I have the right documents for my needs?
  • Where have I saved them?
  • Do I have the current version?
  • Could I produce an audit trail of the documents I’ve used?
  • How can I share with colleagues?
  • What’s the difference between old / new versions of the same document?
  • Am I breaching copyright?

Then the CIS can be your one stop shop for finding and storing the latest documents, with both UK and Ireland versions available for their respective standards.

Their actively managed library is updated on a daily basis and is available 24/7 on desktops in offices and mobile if you’re out in field, you can read or save articles.

The library is constantly adding content with c1.5 million document downloads per year, which is roughly 900 downloads every business hour.

Where can I find it?
