The European Technical Assessment (ETA) provides an alternative for construction products to be declared in relation to its essential characteristics when it is not covered by a Harmonised European Standard (hEN). It is a document providing information on their performance assessment and was established in the Construction Products Regulation and offers a way for manufacturers to draw up the Declaration of Performance and affix the CE marking. It contributes to the free movement of construction products.
ETA’s were designed to reduce technical barriers in the construction products sector throughout Europe, and once a building product has an ETA certificate, it can display the CE Mark and be sold Europe wide.
The UK Government has nominated the BBA to issue ETAs and to represent the UK in the European Organisation for Technical Assessment (EOTA), and our highly experienced team can lead you through this process of gaining an ETA Certification and associated Assessment and Verification of Constancy of Performance (AVCP). All of which will ensure that you secure a CE Mark against your product which in turn can be used anywhere in the EU.
The BBA Audit & Inspection unit further supports this by overseeing the continued assessment of products and systems that have been CE rated to make sure they continue to comply with the defined European standards.
