ETAs are a convenient way for manufacturers to obtain CE marking for new products not covered by a Harmonised European Standard (hEN).
CE markings are mandatory for products covered by a New Approach directive, such as the Construction Products Regulation CPR, (EU) 305/2011, where a Harmonised product standard (ie one that has a ZA Annex) is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union.
With BBA assessments, manufacturers can achieve CE Marking on a voluntary basis via a European Technical Assessment and associated Assessment and Verification of Constancy of Performance (AVCP).
The UK Government has nominated the BBA to issue ETAs and to represent the UK in the European Organisation for Technical Assessment (EOTA). Once our highly experienced team has led you through the programme, CE Marking can be secured and your product used anywhere in the EU.
BBA Audit & Inspection further supports this by overseeing the continued assessment of products and systems that have been CE rated to make sure they continue to comply with the defined European standards.
