RIBA APPROVED CPD – NAVIGATING 3RD PARTY CERTIFICATION: USING BBA AGREMENT TO BUILD WITH CONFIDENCE
The British Board of Agrément’s CPD module, ‘Navigating 3rd Party Certification: Using BBA Agrément to Build with Confidence’, is now a well-established and trusted resource within the architectural community. Since its launch, hundreds of architects have completed the module, gaining valuable insight into how to interpret BBA Agrément Certificates and apply that knowledge to real-world specification decisions.

Approved by the RIBA CPD Providers Network, this CPD supports architects and specifiers in navigating the complexities of third-party certification—an increasingly critical skill in the wake of the Building Safety Act. The Act has introduced new responsibilities across the construction sector, placing a sharper focus on accountability, traceability, and product safety.
“The Grenfell tragedy underscored the urgent need for better-informed product choices,” says Hardy Giesler, CEO of the BBA. “Our research revealed widespread uncertainty around certification interpretation. This CPD was developed in direct response to industry feedback, helping professionals make more confident, evidence-based decisions.”
The module also demystifies the often-confused distinction between product conformity and product certification, a key area of misunderstanding that can impact safety and compliance.
Julie Bregulla, BBA’s Chief Technical Officer, adds:
“This CPD is a vital part of our mission to support the construction industry. It ensures that everyone in the value chain, from manufacturers to specifiers, can correctly interpret certification and make informed choices that stand up to scrutiny.”
As part of the RIBA Core Curriculum, the CPD contributes to the mandatory learning hours required by RIBA members. It is available in three formats:
- Live monthly webinar.
- Individual practice webinars for more than 10 attendees
- Convenient On Demand version via the RIBA CPD website
