Recticel Insulation Products

Executive Summary

Innovation and product development is crucial to Recticel Insulation’s success. The impartiality of the BBA test services and the recognition afforded to the test reports and Certification makes working with the BBA invaluable.

About Recticel Insulation Products

Driven by a culture of innovation, technical competence and flair, Recticel Insulation is dedicated to raising the quality standard of insulation products in the UK. As part of the Belgium-based international Recticel Group, they are one of the worlds largest producers of polyurethane products.

Supporting a ‘fabric first’ approach to construction that achieves healthy, comfortable and thermally efficient buildings, their rigid PIR foam insulation products deliver a high thermal performance for a range of new build and refurbishment applications.

Working with the BBA

Peter Wilcox, Technical Manager at Recticel Insulation, regularly works with the BBA and commented;

“Working with the BBA was straightforward, after an initial meeting with a Client Account Manager, the contract was delivered and a provisional date agreed for the water penetration test. I have found the testing service to be competitive in terms of cost and efficient in terms of turnaround, with good communication along the way”.

BBA Certification is widely recognised by house-builders and insurers as assurance that a product has been extensively tested and is suitable for use in its intended application.

How the BBA testing-service has helped

Testing and Certification is vital to assure customers that products will perform as designed if installed correctly.  Eurowall+, a new high performance PIR insulation board with unique tongue & groove joints on all four sides, has been designed to help builders achieve compliance with the latest Part L Regulations (England & Wales) within a 100 mm cavity. The product has been tested and key product performance characteristics are declared to be in line with the requirements of CE Marking.

Specific BBA testing for water penetration, in a large scale masonry test rig, demonstrated that if installed in line with manufacturer’s guidance, the product will withstand rain ingress across cavities, even in the most exposed zones of the western British Isles.

Having successfully completed testing with the BBA Test services, product launch is imminent for Recticel Insulation, the implementation of an additional production line that will offer increased capacity, and the capability to produce a variety of board edge joint profiles which will help to improve thermal efficiency.
