Driving quality is a key pillar in the BBA’s ethos, which is why we’re actively supporting World Quality Week, taking place from 7 – 11 November.

What is it?

World Quality Week is an annual campaign celebrated by the CQI (Chartered Quality Institute), which raises awareness of the quality management profession globally. The theme for this year’s event will focus on quality conscience.

The CQI writes, “Increasingly, organisations are expected to expand their scope of responsibility and to do the right thing, not only for the shareholder/taxpayer, customers and staff, but the environment and society at large. This demand for businesses to use conscience in their decision making at every level creates more difficult ethical dilemmas. Quality management is not only about designing and improving the quality of product and service, but also about the methods organisations employ to deliver them to customers and stakeholders across their value stream. This year’s World Quality Week theme provides an opportunity to reflect on how corporate culture and conscience can help or hinder an organisation to make decisions and ‘do the right thing’ for all stakeholders.”

Why’s it important to the BBA?

The BBA’s aim is to stand by the high quality bar that we have set for ourselves, both within the way we work, and what we expect of industry. Our aim is to provide assurance and to help industry mitigate and manage risk when it comes to product and system performance in the construction space. BBA certification has always been a key indicator of a quality product that has been measured against a range of standards, Building Regulations and supporting documents. Our certificates go further than this, demonstrating that a product is under consistent surveillance within a documented and audited quality control system.

What is the BBA doing this week?

To stand by other organisations that share the same value, we’ll be sharing interviews with our people, and our clients, about what quality means to them, and why they consider it to be critical as a driver in our industry.
