Establishing a Formal Link to BBA Agrément Certification

In today’s competitive construction product market, credibility is everything. For manufacturers, distributors, and resellers, the BBA Agrément Certificate is a powerful endorsement of product performance, fitness-for-purpose, and compliance. But unless you’re the original certificate holder, there’s only one way to formally demonstrate a relationship to a BBA-certified product: through a Reproduction Certificate.

This isn’t just about rebranding or distribution, it’s about establishing a clear, authorised link to the original certification. Without it, there is no formal connection to the BBA Certificate, and no legal right to use the BBA logo or reference the certification in marketing or technical documentation.

What Is a Reproduction Certificate?

A Reproduction Certificate is a BBA-issued document that mirrors the original Agrément Certificate but is issued in the name of a third party—typically a distributor or reseller. It confirms that the product being sold is identical to the certified product and that the reseller has permission to associate with the certification.

This certificate is the only legitimate route for businesses other than the original certificate holder to use the BBA logo and certification claims. It ensures transparency and protects the integrity of the certification process.

Why Reproduction Certificates Matter

Reproduction Certificates offer strategic value across the supply chain:

  • Formal Recognition: Establishes a direct, traceable relationship to the original BBA Certificate.
  • Market Credibility: Enables resellers to promote certified products with confidence.
  • Extended Certification Value: Allows manufacturers to amplify the reach of their certification investment.
  • Controlled Use of BBA Branding: Ensures only authorised parties can use the BBA logo, preserving trust in the certification.

How It Works

  • The product must be identical to the one covered by the original certificate.
  • It must be manufactured at the same location.
  • The reseller must obtain written permission from the original certificate holder.
  • The original certificate must be active. If it is suspended or withdrawn, the Reproduction Certificate is automatically invalidated.

Once approved, the Reproduction Certificate is indistinguishable from a standard Agrément Certificate and grants the reseller full rights to use the BBA logo and certification claims, in accordance with BBA guidelines. To the external observer, there is no link to the original Certificate.

When to use a Reproduction Certificate

  • Strategic Distribution Partnerships: Where a manufacturer supports resellers with formal certification links.
  • Co-Branding Agreements: Where multiple parties require direct association with a certified product.

Protecting the Integrity of BBA Certification

The BBA is committed to ensuring that only authorised businesses use its certification logos. Any misuse, particularly by organisations not formally licensed through a valid Agrément or Reproduction Certificate, will be addressed promptly. This protects the credibility of the BBA brand and ensures that certification remains a trusted mark of quality across the industry.
