The National Home Improvement Council is the umbrella organisation for repair, maintenance and home improvement sector in the UK. Representing over 100,000 businesses across 100s of trades that carry out five million home improvement and RMI jobs each year. In support of the work the Council is doing, the BBA joined forces with this initiative by becoming members in May 2021.
The NHIC hold regular events that challenge the industry status quo, addressing industry concerns and serving as a voice for the RMI supply chain, including Parliamentary Debates around critical issues facing the industry as a whole.
The BBA is proud to join the NHIC’s next Net Zero Carbon Parliamentary Debate, which takes place at the House of Lords on 14 September this year, which aims to bring together experts from all sides of home improvement sector to debate the case for a revolution in our approach to addressing the climate emergency while tackling post covid economic recovery, creating green jobs and ensuring building safety.
The event will be hosted by NHIC President Rt Hon Lord Stunell OBE. Also, the UK International Champion on Adaptation and Resilience for the COP26 Presidency and Minister of State (Minister for Energy, Clean Growth and Climate Change) Rt Hon Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP is invited to provide the keynote address covering the work she and the Government are doing in the run-up to COP26 alongside representatives from BEIS and industry to speak about CO2nstruct Zero the construction sectors response to the Prime Minister’s Net Zero Challenge. The debate will cover topics such as the need for cultural change, opportunities for new technologies to revolutionise the sector and the requirements of future homes.
Attending the event will be over 100 senior representatives of organisations dedicated to working together to improve the nation’s homes. The NHIC is an official partner of and is committed to the CLC’s CO2nstruct Zero campaign.
