The British Board of Agrément (BBA) proudly celebrates all its clients who achieve Certifications. Its Agrément Certificates are recognised and valued by stakeholders across the construction industry. Perhaps less well-known is the BBA’s range of Approved Installer Schemes.

The BBA Approved Installer schemes are designed to close the loop on quality in construction projects, ensuring that every link in the supply chain demonstrates competency. Architects and manufacturers are already meticulously checked, and with the Approved Installer schemes, confidence in product installation can be provided.

The BBA Approved Installer schemes verify installers to install specific products that have Agrément Certification. This final piece of the jigsaw is crucial in reducing the amount of call-outs to the site, ensuring installs are correct in the first instance. Most issues in construction aren’t due to product failure but incorrect installation or use. By certifying installers, the BBA aims to mitigate these risks and enhance the overall quality of construction projects.

With more than 300 Approved Installer Organisations across the UK, the schemes cover key product areas such as insulation, gas membranes and safety road surfaces. These schemes include:

  • BBA Approved Installer Scheme: Installers are approved to install products with Agrément Certification.
  • BBA Competent Person Scheme for Installers of Solid Wall Insulation: A government scheme allowing installers to self-certify their work, avoiding costly Building Control notification fees and delays.
  • BBA Gas Membrane Installer Scheme: Installers are approved to install BBA-approved gas membranes.
  • PAS 2030 Approval: Provides installers access to government-funded work in the energy efficiency sector.
  • High Friction Surfacing Installer Scheme: Installers are approved to install specialist anti-skid surface treatments with HAPAS Certification used in high-risk areas on roads.

The construction industry is evolving, and each link in the supply chain is expected to demonstrate competency. Clients, including consumers, are becoming more conscious about using independently verified products and services, making BBA Certification crucial. Everyone must play their part and take responsibility for the safety of the project. This holistic approach to certification reduces the likelihood of failure, saves time and protects reputations across the board.

All BBA Approved Installers are available to search on the BBA’s easily accessible MyBBA website tool. The MyBBA search tool is a vital resource that gives the construction industry visibility of important certification data. With a MyBBA account, users can find and verify BBA-certified products and systems, find and verify BBA-certified installers, download the latest version of a certificate, and view the status of withdrawn, suspended, and recently added BBA certificates.

Katy Roberts, Sales and Marketing Director of the BBA, comments, “As the BBA celebrates our clients’ recent achievements, we wanted to turn the spotlight onto our Approved Installers. Working together, we can build a future of quality and excellence in the construction industry and ensure all links in the supply chain are verified, including the people who are responsible for installations.
