UKCA Marking. Where are we now and what do I need to know

In partnership with the LRWA & SPRA, the BBA will be hosting a workshop to cover the topic of Brexit and its implications for CE and UKCA Marking for all members of the associations, with a focus on liquid and single-ply roof waterproofing.

It will also provide members the opportunity to ask any questions they may have on the topic.

There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the use of CE marking going forward, and the introduction of UKCA marking. The requirements for marking will depend not just on the final agreements between the UK and the EU at the end of the transition period, but also on the country of origin, and the market products are sold in.

Despite the uncertainty, it is important that we understand how these variables may impact the industry and what can be done now to prepare for the future, and to save time and money.

As one example, the ongoing validity of CE Marking for EU markets and the introduction of UKCA marking for the UK market are both dependent on the terms of a deal between the EU and the UK – if there is one. This leaves the liquid roofing industry in some doubt.

• What will be valid on January 1st 2021?
• What will be valid at the end of the proposed CE Marking transition on January 1st 2022?
• Which marks do I need for which market?
• Who are the bodies accredited to help me with this?

There are answers and options, but for the liquid waterproofing industry and the companies that operate within, what are they? More importantly, what are the repercussions of these options?

Within this workshop the BBA’s John Albon (Chief Scientific Officer) and Claire Aizlewood (Quality Manager) will provide insight and the most up to date information on UKCA Marking.
